International Program Manager

We are seeking a high capacity International Program Manager with non-profit, international development experience. Give Freedom International works in partnership with local NGOs in human trafficking hotspots to increase their capacity and impact.

The Role

We are seeking a part-time, high capacity International Program Manager with previous international development and non-profit experience to join our team. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, this position assists the Executive Team in the delivery of Give Freedom’s international development projects.

The International Program Manager works in close partnership with our Field Partner, assisting with and coordinating all aspects of the project cycle, including advising on international development best practice, liaising with partners and specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting on project outcomes. 

The International Program Manager will have strong communication, relational, analytical, and problem solving skills. 

The International Program Manager has four core areas of responsibility:

  • Field Partner relationship and communication
  • Project monitoring and management
  • Compliance and reporting
  • International development expertise and best practice

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Management

  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with our Field Partner and facilitate Program Department meetings
  • Manage program expense and grant requests from our Field Partner
  • Manage financial and outcomes reporting for program expenses and grants, and assist our Field Partner in completing required reporting
  • Assist in conducting regular Field Partner ‘health checks’
  • Monitor and evaluate program and project outcomes
  • Assist in strengthening organisational capacity, and mutual accountability for both Give Freedom and our Field Partners
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of development best practice
  • Regularly review and update Give Freedom’s International Development Approach in line with industry best practice
  • Work with our Field Partner and Executive Team to assist in the development of and adherence to project scopes, goals, outcomes, timeframes, budgets, and  risk assessments
  • Work to reduce program costs where possible through research and negotiation with suppliers

Compliance

  • Assist with developing and updating key policies
  • Ensure alignment of outgoing funds with funding policies
  • Develop and review financial and program reporting
  • Keep up to date with and advise on Australian legal and governance compliance
  • Ensure all program activities and reporting adhere to ACNC regulations
  • Complete required reporting for regulatory bodies (including ACNC)
  • Advise on and ensure all program activities adhere to all international development codes of conduct, and sector specific best practice
  • Advise on and ensure compliance to funding agreement requirements and assist in obtaining funding from other sources

Relationships & Collaboration

  • Liaise with Field Partners as needed, and be the main operational point of contact
  • Participate in team meetings, and provide regular program updates to the team
  • Maintain strong communication with Marketing, Partnership, and Operations teams.
  • Liaise with the Marketing department to provide content updates from our Field Partner
  • Support the Marketing department to ensure all outward facing communications align with our  international development approach and core messaging framework
  • Work with the partnerships team to align program reporting with donor journeys and servicing
  • Advocate for beneficiary and Field Partner interests

To be successful in this role you will have:

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in International Development, International Business, or related field

Desired qualifications 

  • Masters degree in a related field

Required experience

  • Experience in a similar or related role
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector

Core competencies 

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of International Development theory and best practice
  • Sound knowledge of ACNC reporting requirements and compliance requirements under Australian law 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent cultural awareness and experience in building and fostering cross-cultural partnerships and relationships
  • Sound negotiation skills

Core details

This is a permanent part-time (12-16 hrs per week)
position, with the potential for hours to increase in the future. As our team works part-time—predominantly from Tuesday to Thursday—this role would suit an experienced candidate looking for flexibility around other commitments, as the specifics of days/hours worked can be negotiated or worked flexibly as required.

This position requires a limited amount of travel to Newcastle, with the possibility of Field Partner trips in the future.

The Role

We are seeking a part-time, high capacity Communications Specialist with previous non-profit experience to join our team. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, this position oversees all aspects of internal and external communication strategies to ensure a clear, concise, and cohesive message through all of Give Freedom’s communication avenues. 

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing content for digital and print media, campaigns, general branding, product development, website, and strategically important internal communication. 

The Communications Specialist will have excellent written communication and story-telling skills, strong verbal communication, innovation, and attention to detail.

The Communications Specialist is responsible for:

  • Ensuring clear, concise, cohesive and strategically responsive messaging through all of Give Freedom’s communication avenues
  • Quality control—all external communications to be QC’d by the Communications Specialist before going to market
  • Continuing to develop Give Freedom’s branding,  authority, and market voice, to further develop trust, and engagement with our mission and vision
  • Ensuring communication effectively engages with our major donor target audience and the wider support base
  • Taking the communication lead when working collaboratively with other team members such as the creative specialist, partnership managers, and external contractors

Key Responsibilities 

Supporter-Facing Communications

  • Copywriting—major donor proposals, field stories, annual reports, impact reports, website copy, EDMs, social media posts, FAQs, and standard responses.
  • Develop and review campaign and branding communications plans and strategies, as required
  • Ensure all marketing collateral and activities are in alignment with marketing policies, the strategic business plan, review and funding policies, core messaging framework, and style guide. 
  • Quality Control for any communication that goes to market
  • Assist in developing donor journey servicing and communications
  • Assist in developing partnerships resources

Internal Communications

As Give Freedom grows as an organisation, the need for sound and consistent internal communication will increase.The Communications Specialist will:

  • Assist with writing and updating key policies relating to the marketing and communications department
  • Review and QC strategic business documents
  • Review important internal team-wide communications

Relationships & Collaboration

  • Participate in team meetings, and provide regular updates to the team
  • Participate in Marketing team planning meetings
  • Work with the Marketing team to develop annual and quarterly marketing & communications plans
  • Work with the Executive Team to understand key messages and strategic communication requirements
  • Coordinate external contractors as required
  • Liaise with key stakeholders 
  • Training of key stakeholders in marketing branding, messaging guidelines, campaigns, and products as required

The Role

We are seeking a part-time, high capacity Partnership Manager with previous non-profit donor management experience to join our team. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, this position works with current and potential major donors, and other strategic partners, to manage and nurture these relationships, identify funding areas aligned with partner interests and motivations, increase giving to The Pokhara Project, and provide relevant servicing to ensure an excellent donor experience and ongoing giving where possible.

The Partnership Manager will assist in developing the business development strategy, and executing strategic plans to maximise partnerships and increase major gifts. 

The Partnership Manager will have excellent communication and networking skills, an aptitude for building rapport and fostering positive relationships, a proven ability in securing gifts/donations, and a passion for fighting human trafficking. 

Key Responsibilities 

Partnerships

  • Ensure all partnership activities are in alignment with partnership and marketing policies, the strategic business plan, core messaging framework, and style guide.
  • Utilise CRM data and reporting to identify and assess leads
  • Contact leads, major donors, and partners via phone and email to set up meetings/appointments and/or follow up on opportunities
  • Meet with leads, major donors, and partners to present funding opportunities
  • Record all interactions in CRM and work with the Operations team to ensure all data is kept up to date
  • Ongoing monitoring and maintaining of all major donor relationships at all stages of the donor life cycle
  • Provide timely servicing and program/project updates to donors
  • Facilitate and conduct presentations for groups, including churches, schools, and businesses
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business development plans, including fostering relationships with philanthropic foundations and grant-funding bodies
  • Assist in the development of key policies relating to the Partnership department

Relationships & Collaboration

  • Participate in team meetings and provide regular partnership updates
  • Work with the Marketing and Communication team to develop relevant pitches, proposals, and presentations as needed for various leads, major donors, and partners
  • Ensure all partnerships are accurately maintained and recorded in the CRM
  • Assist in coordinating Give Freedom events
  • Attend networking and fundraising events as required
  • Actively assist in implementing improvement structures to streamline manual processes 
  • Liaise with key stakeholders 
  • Training of key stakeholders as needed

Key Activities

  • Personal one-to-one meetings/calls with current and potential donors as needed
